By using Cantora (Zyntec) you agree to these terms and to Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/). Where these terms and Apple's agreement differ, Apple's agreement applies to your licence to use the app.
What Cantora is
Cantora recognises printed sheet music from photos and PDFs and plays it back so you can practise. Measures the recogniser is unsure about are marked so you can check and correct them.
Recognition is automatic and can make mistakes. It does not support handwritten music. Check the score against the original before relying on it, for example for a performance.
Scanning needs an internet connection. Your library, playback and corrections work offline.
Free and Pro
The free version includes 5 scanned pages every 30 days, playback, tempo, transpose, loop and corrections, and choir mode on your first piece.
Pro raises the limit to up to 600 pages every 30 days and adds choir mode on every piece and export as MusicXML, MIDI and PDF. Page limits protect the service from abuse and may be adjusted; features may change as the app is updated. What Pro includes is always described on the purchase screen.
Subscriptions
Cantora Pro is offered as an auto-renewing subscription (yearly at $29.99 or monthly at $4.99 in the US; local prices are shown in the App Store) and as a one-time lifetime purchase ($79.99 in the US).
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. A subscription renews automatically at the same price and for the same period unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
The yearly plan may include a 7-day free trial for eligible users. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the yearly subscription starts and is charged automatically. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
Manage or cancel your subscription in Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad, or from Settings › Manage subscription in the app. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policy (reportaproblem.apple.com).
The lifetime purchase is a one-time payment that unlocks Pro for as long as the app is offered, on devices signed in with the same Apple Account. Restore it with Restore Purchases in the app.
When a subscription ends, your pieces and exported files are not deleted; Pro-only features are locked again.
Your music and copyright
Only scan music you are allowed to use, for example music in the public domain, music you own, or copies your choir or school is licensed to use. You are responsible for respecting the rights of composers, arrangers and publishers.
Scores you create are stored on your device and in your iCloud. Keep copies of anything important.
Acceptable use
Don't reverse engineer, resell or misuse the app or its recognition service, don't knowingly send content that isn't sheet music, and don't try to get around page limits or purchase checks.
Availability
We work to keep the recognition service running, but it may be temporarily unavailable, for example during maintenance. If the service is paused, the app tells you; the rest of the app keeps working.
Limitation of liability
The app is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect damages, lost data, or errors in recognised scores. Your mandatory statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
Changes
These terms may be updated; significant changes are published on this page with a date.
